Cheeky Magpie by Somebody-Somewhere Cheeky Magpie by Somebody-Somewhere
This is one of the magpies that visit our garden on a daily basis, but only one of 2 that was brave enough to venture into the garden when I was out with my camera.

I love this shot, and think that even the mushrooms add to it, but opinions and comments are always welcome! :)

I'm from Australia and our magpies look very different!

Heehee, yea - there's a few types of magpies around. The Australian ones look very cool though :)

Oh wow! That's really cool!

None of ours do that... though they have been known to occasionally tap on the window if their favourite food has run out :)

Thank you!

I have to agree! The majority of the time I think they have a look of both friendliness and curiousity :)

Heehee :)

I do like magpies - we have up to 7 that visit the garden on a regular basis! Each has their own personality too :)

Glad you like him! :D

Thank you! :D

I like to think he was posing for me... think he was actually looking to see if I was in the way of any food!

Was a picture from luck and patience; we have several magpies that visit our garden, but only this one was brave enough to venture in when I was sitting out with my camera! Had to wait a good while for it though!

Being able to sit still and in a quiet place is a good start, though leaving food (bread / seed / suet pellets etc) out is also one of my top pieces of advice! Though the food would need to be a little distance away as birds tend to be fairly jumpy around humans :P

I'd highly recommend a bird feeder! May take a few days for the birds to find and get used to it, but you should definately see some visiters! :D

It was either trying to figure out what my camera was... or (more likely) trying to figure out if it could safely get to the food :P

I can totally see what you mean; some birds really do look like modern day dinosaurs with feathers (which makes me think the theory birds evolved from dinosaurs is definately true!) :D
